Unconscious Man Revived, but Later Dies
An 82-year-old man died after being found unconscious in a Woodland Hills swimming pool Sunday morning, even though family members had revived him using resuscitation techniques given to them by a 911 emergency dispatcher.
The drowning of Jake Becker was reported about 8 a.m. by family members after he was found in the swimming pool in the 20000 block of Gypsy Lane. A Los Angeles Fire Department dispatcher gave the family CPR instructions by telephone.
Becker was revived and taken by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills shortly before 9 a.m., said Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Becker died of an apparent heart attack later Sunday, said hospital spokeswoman Mary Furr-Jones.
