Much is being made of the movie-script matchup with the United States against Brazil, at home, on the Fourth of July.

Most of the players on the U.S. team have been going along with reporters who have been suggesting they might have more incentive to win, for flag and country.

Roy Wegerle admitted Sunday the holiday meant little to the players:

“Whether it’s the Fourth of July or Christmas Day, it has nothing to do with the game on the field. But it would be a great achievement if we win. It would be a great birthday present to the soccer fans of America.”
