Two Lancaster women who authorities believe supplied methamphetamine to dealers in Thousand Oaks have been arrested on suspicion of possession of the drug for sale, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday.

Julia Cosby, 31, and Rosa Marie Rodriguez, 34, were arrested late Tuesday at a fast-food restaurant on San Fernando Road in Santa Clarita, authorities said.

They were arrested while attempting to deliver a pound of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $73,000 to an undercover Ventura County sheriff’s detective, authorities said.

The arrests followed a three-month investigation in which detectives traced drug sales from street dealers to the two women, who they suspect are wholesale suppliers, said Sgt. Gary Pentis of the Ventura County sheriff’s East Valley narcotics unit.

The houses where the women lived in Lancaster, on Norberry and Cedar streets, were searched after the arrest, and evidence of drug dealing was found, including scales, a ledger, several ounces of methamphetamine and $6,300 in cash, Pentis said. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies aided the search.

The pair were booked into Ventura County Jail but released late Wednesday on $20,000 bail each. Pentis said an investigation was continuing and more arrests are likely.
