Venice: Latino View of Gang War Sought
I noticed that the article by Jeffrey Kramer on the Venice gang war contained no quotes from Latinos, who constitute 50% of the people in the Oakwood neighborhood. Twenty-five percent are black and 25% are white. The article implies, by its failure to quote from any Latinos, that this is a neighborhood with a black majority.
I am not a spokesperson for the Latino community. I have no idea what they think or feel, but I would like to know, and that is the job of the reporter.
Every story trots out that tired old conspiracy rumor that big developers have sponsored the gang war. Let’s have more depth in the future.
