NORTH HOLLYWOOD : Youth Groups Join in Cleanup Today

Share

The public is invited to join about 100 youths today in a cleanup of North Hollywood sponsored by Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alarcon.

The event, which will begin at 8 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 6903 Radford St., will sweep into Hart and Radford streets before ending at noon.

The event will be followed by a lunch on the church grounds.

The youths, many of whom are a part of Alarcon’s 7th District Youth Improvement Council, will remove trash and graffiti, sweep the gutters and collect items dumped illegally.

The supplies for the cleanup are being provided by the city.

Several other community organizations are expected to participate, including the Panorama City and Sun Valley Graffiti Busters, New Directions for Youth, the Holy Rosary Youth Group, the St. Patrick Youth Group and various Neighborhood Watch groups.

The 7th District Youth Improvement Council, formed by Alarcon in February, has grown to about 200 youths representing area schools.

The group, which meets regularly to discuss ways to improve the community, has held two earlier cleanups this year.
