A 35-year-old Oxnard man was shot and critically wounded outside a pizza restaurant Sunday night following an argument with another patron, authorities said.

Roberto Calderon Leyva was with his wife and daughter at the time of the shooting, Oxnard Police Sgt. John Crombach said.

The 6:15 p.m. incident occurred in the parking lot of Topper’s Pizza, 2100 Saviers Road.

“At some point, an argument ensued between the victim and the suspect,” Crombach said. “He exited the restaurant and at that point was shot. What the argument was about or who started it, I don’t know.”
