Share

Simi Valley businesses looking for ways to clean up the environment and save a little money along the way can get a free guide to recycling at City Hall.

The new guide includes information on everything from setting up a recycling program to composting and trading waste with other companies.

The packet also includes an explanation of ways that businesses can save money by recycling.

For example, pickup service for a three-cubic-yard garbage bin costs $94.17 a month. But if trash is separated and the same bin filled with recyclable paper, glass or compost, the monthly charge drops to $51.20.

“The whole point is to encourage businesses to recycle because it’s good for them and for the community,” said Joe Hreha, deputy director of environmental services. For information or to order a packet from the city, call 583-6874.
