BRIEFLY : Charity: Music Fans Swap Food for CD Discounts

Music fans contributed 134 pounds of canned food for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank’s Feed the Hungry While You Feed Your Ears food drive, staged earlier this month at the Moby Disc music store in Santa Monica. The food drive, coordinated with Moby Records, Bam magazine and KROQ-FM, was the first of its kind involving the music industry, organizers said.

Music fans who donated one can of food received a $1 to $5 discount on any CD in the store.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, founded in 1973, works with 740 local charities throughout Los Angeles County to help feed nearly 300,000 people a week.
