Centers Offer Free Lunches to Youths

Free lunches are being served to youths at 17 recreational centers throughout the San Fernando Valley through Aug. 26, the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department has announced.

The federally funded meals program for people under 18 includes a sandwich, fruit, fruit juice and milk.

The lunches are aimed at youngsters who would be deprived of food assistance they would have during the school year, although all youths under 18 are eligible.

Participating recreation centers in the East Valley include Branford, 13310 Branford St., Arleta; Fernangeles, 8851 Laurel Canyon Blvd., Sun Valley; Delano, 15100 Erwin St., Van Nuys; Hubert Humphrey, 12560 Filmore St., Pacoima; Lake View Terrace, 11075 Foothill Blvd., and North Hollywood, 11430 Chandler Blvd.

Others are North Weddington, 10844 Acama St., North Hollywood; Pacoima, 10943 Herrick Ave.; Paxton, 10731 Laurel Canyon Blvd., Pacoima; Sepulveda, 8801 Kester Ave., North Hills; Sun Valley, 8133 Vineland Ave.; Sunland, 8651 Foothill Blvd.; Sylmar, 13109 Borden Ave.; Valley Plaza, 12240 Archwood St., North Hollywood; Van Nuys, 15401 Vanowen St., and Victory-Vineland, 11112 Victory Blvd., North Hollywood.

The only participating center in the West Valley is Lanark, 21816 Lanark St., Canoga Park.
