A former El Toro resident was arrested after a tip from Phoenix police led to the discovery of a body in a freezer in the back of a rental truck, authorities said Thursday.

Yavapai County sheriff’s deputies went to the Prescott Country Club home of John Famalaro on Wednesday after getting the tip that the truck was stolen and might be parked there, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Laurie Berra.

Deputies found an extension cord running from the freezer in the truck in the driveway to his house, Berra said.

Famalaro, who was found later, rented the truck in January in El Toro, his home before moving to the Prescott area, Berra said.

Famalaro, 37, was being held in the Yavapai County Jail on suspicion of theft and first-degree murder.

The truck and the freezer have been taken to the Department of Public Safety’s crime lab in Phoenix.

The body had not been identified or a cause of death determined, Berra said.

Phoenix police had told Yavapai County authorities the truck may be involved in drug trafficking, but the freezer, sealed with tape, caught the attention of deputies, Berra said.
