Paulinho Leads Salsa to Victory

Paulinho scored two goals and the Salsa defeated Houston, 3-0, in a American Professional Soccer League game Thursday at Robertson Stadium in Houston.

Paulinho started the scoring with a header in the 26th minute. The goal came off a cross from Mike Fox, who had worked the ball down the right side and then kicked it into the penalty box, where Paulinho was stationed.

Paulinho added his second goal 22 minutes into the second half when he scored from about 10 yards. Paul Wright scored the final goal on a free kick from about 25 yards with nine minutes left.

It was the first victory of the season for the Salsa (1-2) and first-year Coach Rick Davis. Houston is 0-1. The Salsa travels to Florida to play the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers Saturday.
