The city will celebrate its 38th birthday Saturday with the Cypress Community Festival. Booths and events will be at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Grindlay Street.

“It’s a super, super event; there’s no admission, and everyone is invited,” said Vicky Casanas, a spokeswoman for the festival.

Casanas said the day’s activities begin at 6:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and late registration for a 5- and 10-kilometer run and a two-mile stroll. Late registration for the 5- and 10-K events is $12, with T-shirt not included. Late registration for the two-mile stroll is $5, with T-shirt not included. The stroll and races begin at 7:30 a.m.

The festival booths open at 9 a.m., Casanas said, and activity continues through 5 p.m. “There will be a ton of food and games,” she said. “There will also be a lot of entertainment.”

The annual community festival draws crowds ranging upward to 20,000, Casanas said.
