CANOGA PARK : 10 Trees Planted as Project Begins

Share

Kermit the Frog was wrong.

It is easy to be green--at least a little more so--in the city of Los Angeles, as a tree-planting project was kicked off Wednesday in Canoga Park.

The first 10 of 1,000 trees planned for the project were planted by the Quakertown Street Neighborhood Watch group of Canoga Park. The trees were donated by Woodland Hills’ Treeland Nurseries.

In a release, Councilwoman Laura Chick said: “Trees are more than beautiful. The positive effect of every tree we plant in terms of its ability to remove polluting carbon dioxide from the air is staggering.”

Hundreds of trees are available to community groups interested in participating in the greening effort. For more information, call the Street Tree Division at (213) 485-5675.
