Like a Rolls-Royce, a Rolex or court-side season tickets for the Lakers, the La Cornue stove is the ultimate.

La Cornue, a professional French stove, is meticulously crafted. Made of hand-polished stainless steel, nickel-plated steel and solid brass, the stove has no visible screws for an absolute heat seal.

One of the two ovens is always gas (for moist cooking and less shrinkage of meats and poultry) and the other is always electric (which provides a dry heat for pastries, souffles, meringues and breads).

La Cornue, imported by the Purcell-Murray Co. in Brisbane, Calif., is offered in 13 colors, including pistache , a pale shade of green.

Of course, all of this luxury has a price.

Just ask the nearly 250 owners--including actors Danny Glover and Jamie Wyeth and comedian Robin Williams--who have purchased one in the three years the stove has been available in the United States.

For a mere $10,000 to $17,000, depending on the custom features you desire, you can add your name to the list.

Resin Wicker

This furniture can weather the storm--and then some.

The newest casual outdoor collection by El Monte-based Brown and Jordan, South Bay combines classic contemporary styling with the technology of weatherproof materials.

Resinweave, Brown and Jordan’s patented weaving process, involves extruding polyolefin resin with ultraviolet inhibitors into wicker or cane. The material is handwoven one strand at a time over the aluminum frames of the furniture for a wicker-like quality.

Virtually maintenance-free, the furniture is lightweight, sturdy and rustproof, and it will not crack, fade or peel. Thus, you can leave it outside all the time, and it will maintain its elegance, rain or shine.

Included in the line are dining and lounge chairs with cushions, an ottoman, a love seat and chaise with cushions and several table styles. Pieces range in price from $600 for a chair to $1,700 for a chaise and can be purchased in Orange County at Roger’s Gardens, Anaheim Patio and La Paz.

Under Cover

Some like it hot. Some like it cold. Some like it in between.

No matter your preference, when it comes to bedding, the Somma Mattress Co. is making it easy to do it your way.

The EurForma collection, a line of flotation, foam and innerspring mattresses, allows you to pick from a choice of zipper tops in foam, wool or down.

The tops can be mixed or matched for just the right comfort combination.

“This bedding innovation is comparable to serving up your own good-sleep sundae,” said Angie Echevarria, president of Somma, which is based in Los Angeles.

The mattresses and tops range in price from about $800 to $1,500.
