Antley to Ride in Hollywood Juvenile

Share

Chris Antley has picked up the mount on Sierra Diablo in Monday’s $100,000 Hollywood Juvenile, according to trainer Mark Hennig.

Sierra Diablo has raced just once, but it was a memorable effort. The son of Conquistador Cielo rallied strongly to post a one-length victory over Chief Capote in a maiden special weight race on June 18.

Eddie Delahoussaye was aboard as Sierra Diablo timed 58 seconds for five furlongs in the victory. Delahoussaye, however, is out of action until later next week after undergoing surgery to correct a sinus problem, and the mount on Sierra Diablo opened up for Antley.

Antley began Friday in fourth place in the jockey standings with 60 wins and tied with Chris McCarron for first in stakes wins at seven apiece.

The probable field for the Juvenile Championship, to be decided at six furlongs: Cold N Calculating, Pedroza; Cyrano, Corey Nakatani; Fox Mountain, Garrett Gomez; Mr Purple, Chris McCarron; Serena’s Song, Gary Stevens; Sierra Diablo, Antley, and Tyson’s Revenge, Fernando Valenzuela.
