PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Eagles Cut Harris to Stay Under Cap

The Philadelphia Eagles released defensive end Tim Harris to free enough money sign defensive end Greg Townsend and stay under the salary cap. Harris, who signed a three-year, $5.4-million contract last year, was scheduled to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season. Townsend, the former Raider, signed with the Eagles on Thursday.
