SIMI VALLEY : Quake-Repair Loans, Grants Available
Needy Simi Valley residents with earthquake damage who have been turned away from state and federal agencies may qualify for grants or low-interest loans being offered by the city.
Government-subsidized loans of up to $20,000 with interest rates as low as 3% are available to low- and moderate-income homeowners in Simi Valley.
Residents with very low incomes may qualify for grants of up to $5,000. A family of four earning less than $40,000 a year would be eligible for a grant. Aid is also available for mobile home owners.
The city has received more than $1.5 million in federal Community Development Block Grant funds to help homeowners with repairs.
For more information, call the city’s Department of Environmental Services, Home Rehabilitation Program at 583-6757.
