Fullerton’s Noe, Park Qualify for Match Play at USGA Junior

Terry Noe and Jin Park, both of Fullerton, qualified Wednesday for match play in the USGA Junior Amateur Championships at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, N.J.

Noe shot 73 for a two-round total of 143, four strokes behind leader Michael Henderson of Raleigh, N.C., who shot a 69 to go with an opening 70. Park had 75 for a 146 total, seven under the cut at 153. Jimmy Lee of Irvine finished at 155.

The tournament, for players under the age of 18, switches to match play today. The semifinals and final are scheduled Saturday. Tiger Woods won the title the last three years.

Jenny Lee of Fullerton was in fifth place after shooting a par 71 in the second round of the American Junior Golf Assn. Betsy Rawls Girls’ National Championship at the Du Pont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.

Lee, at 147, is five strokes behind the leader Grace Park of Phoenix.

Jeffrey McGraw of Fullerton shot par 72, then won a five-hole playoff for medalist honors in a qualifier in the 15-16 division of the American Junior Golf Assn. Boys’ Junior at Bear Creek Golf Resort in Dallas.

Matt Brady of Villa Park High has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Brady, a pitcher and outfielder, was 6-3 with a 2.15 earned-run average. He also hit .453 with four home runs and 23 runs batted in.

The Bullfrogs announced a two-for-one ticket offer for the two remaining Roller Hockey International games at The Pond of Anaheim.

Friday, Anaheim will play host to Las Vegas and the Bullfrogs’ home schedule concludes Aug. 2 with fan appreciation night and a game against Vancouver. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
