NEWBURY PARK : Woman Arrested on Molestation Charge

A 45-year-old Newbury Park woman has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a 14-year-old boy after hiring him to help her move and then showing him nude images of herself, authorities said.

Laurie Ann Arden was arrested Wednesday after sheriff’s deputies learned she was living at the E-Z 8 Motel in Newbury Park, said Sheriff’s Detective Mike Powers.

Lt. Bill Montijo said several videotapes, computer disks and other computer equipment were confiscated in Arden’s room.

Powers said Arden is unemployed, but apparently posed for sexually explicit films and magazines as recently as a several months ago.

“It would appear that they were at least statewide publications,” he said.

According to Powers, Arden had sex with the boy twice in April and May after she hired him to help her move out of a rented room on White Oak Lane in Newbury Park. Arden allegedly showed him nude images of herself on a computer screen and in a magazine, then suggested they have sex.

Sheriff’s detectives began investigating the case in May after the 14-year-old boy’s mother became suspicious when Arden called the family’s home asking for her son.

The boy admitted to having sex with Arden after being questioned by his mother, who then called the Sheriff’s Department.

The boy met Arden through a friend who was referred to Arden by a youth employment agency in the Conejo Valley, said Powers, who declined to name the agency.
