Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals, will have a much different look next season.

Like nearby Arrowhead Stadium, home of the NFL’s Chiefs, Kauffman Stadium will replace its artificial turf with natural grass for next season, along with moving fences in and lowering them from 12 feet to nine feet.

“By putting in grass, we needed to add some offense to the park, and the only way to do that was to move in the fences,” Royal General Manager Herk Robinson said.

A Comiskey Park fan who fell from the bleachers Saturday while reaching for a home run hit by Chicago White Sox first baseman Frank Thomas received a scraped elbow and an autographed ball from the slugger.

The fan, whose name was not released, fell out of the bleachers and onto his back in the Seattle Mariners’ bullpen and was taken out of the park on a stretcher.
