Share

The governing board of the Santa Ana Unified School District has created and filled a new position responsible for overseeing all alternative education programs. The Board of Education last week named Jerilyn King-Brown to be the administrator of alternative education, effective today.

She will oversee the Teen Parent and Independent Study programs and Phoenix House, a county residential program supervised by the district. She will also confer with principals and teachers at continuation high schools to improve performance of students who have done poorly in traditional education programs, said district spokeswoman Diane Thomas.
