DEL MAR : Two Longshots Can’t Catch Siebe on Turf
Siebe scored only his fourth victory in 31 starts Monday, leading all the way in winning the $51,000 allowance feature on Del Mar’s turf course by 2 3/4 lengths over Fernandazo.
Ridden by Kent Desormeaux and carrying 116 pounds, Siebe covered one mile on Del Mar’s turf course in 1:36 4/5 and paid $10.40, $5.40 and $3.80.
Fernandazo, a 13-1 longshot ridden by Laffit Pincay, was second by a head over The Informer and returned $12.40 and $6.80 before 10,675.
The Informer, another 13-1 longshot ridden by Corey Nakatani, paid $6.00.
Diaco, the even-money favorite ridden by Chris Antley, finished sixth.
Desormeaux, Nakatani and Alex Solis each rode two winners Monday.
