Cobi Jones, the speedy midfielder with dreadlocks on the U.S. World Cup team, is joining American Roy Wegerle as a member of Coventry City in the English Premier League this season.

The central English club said Jones signed a one-year contract with the Sky Blues with an option to stay two more seasons.

“I think he will do well over here,” Coventry Chairman Bryan Richardson said of the 24-year-old. “He is certainly box office material and we hope he will bring a spark to the place. He is quick and can operate on either wing.”

Also signing was Claudio Reyna, who will join World Cup teammate Thomas Dooley at Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga.

Reyna, 21, was the youngest member of the World Cup team but did not play because of a hamstring injury.
