Cancer Society Offers More Free Rides
The San Fernando Valley unit of the American Cancer Society has received extra funds from its home office to provide more Valley-area cancer patients with free transportation to medical centers in August.
Every month, the cancer society provides transportation to about 60 patients. But with the extra funding, 20 more patients can be helped, according to Herm Perlmutter, the associate executive director of the Valley unit.
Cancer patients who live in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys and Glendale are eligible for the free rides to any medical facility in Los Angeles County.
For more information, call the cancer society between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at (818) 989-5555.
