Youth Killed in Freeway Crash
A 15-year-old boy was killed in a crash on the Riverside Freeway early Sunday after the car in which he was riding was struck from behind by another car, authorities said.
The youth was identified as John Dilag of Lawndale, said Senior Deputy Coroner Larry Esslinger.
Dilag and three others in the car driven by a 17-year-old Torrance resident were eastbound on the freeway east of Gypsum Canyon Road when the accident occurred at 12:39 a.m., said CHP dispatcher Deborah Peake.
The car in which Dilag was a passenger ran off the road and struck a guardrail on the right shoulder, Peake said.
The CHP released no other information on the incident Sunday.
