Santa Ana : 1 Killed, 1 Injured in Fight Outside Home
One man was killed and a second wounded early Wednesday when sidewalk drinking among a group of acquaintances escalated into an argument and gunfire, police said.
Just before 4 a.m., Richard Velasquez, 21, was shot several times in the upper torso while standing in front of a home in the 1200 block of South Kathy Lane, Sgt. Dick Faust said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Jose Luis Gomez, 18, was grazed in the head with a shot. He was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital for observation before being released.
Later in the day, police arrested 21-year-old Robert May on suspicion of murder. May was booked into the Santa Ana Detention Facility and is being held without bail.
