Four El Toro High School students were injured, one critically, when their Honda sedan collided with another car just after they pulled out of the school’s parking lot, police said.

The four boys were not identified because they are juveniles. The school was not in session, but the students had just left a cross-country training session as they pulled onto Ridge Route, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Martini.

The Honda and a Chevrolet collided on Toledo Lane.

Two of the most seriously injured teens were airlifted to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where one was reported in critical condition with head injuries and a second in guarded condition with broken bones. The other two teens were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where they were both reported in stable condition with broken bones, cuts and bruises.

The Chevrolet’s driver was treated at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills and released.

There were no arrests or citations, Martini said, but the Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
