ICE HOT: Ice Cube didn’t get a summer vacation--and he might not get a break until next summer. Not only did he just finish work as writer and star of the film comedy “Friday,” but he also put together the soundtrack album, with an impressive roster of contributors including himself, his former N.W.A. partner Dr. Dre and Prince. And as a bonus, old school funksters George Clinton and Bootsy Collins reunited for one track.

With the movie out of the way, Cube will focus on his own next album, “Bootlegs and B Sides,” due in late November. As the title indicates, it’s a collection of rarities and remixes. When that’s out, Cube plans to start work on his eagerly awaited collaboration with Dre, tentatively billed as Helter Skelter. Look for that one in late spring at the earliest.

Finally, in addition to executive producing the new album by Da Lench Mob, “The Planet of the Apes”--which is coming at the end of October--he’s a guest rapper on the record too. That trio, which just moved from Atlantic’s EastWest to independent Priority, now features a new member, Maulkie replacing J.D., who’s in jail on charges related to a shooting death in June of last year. charge.
