Police captured two bank robbery suspects Friday after a witness provided them with a description of a 1977 Mercedes fleeing a Bank of America.

Jack Cantella, 50, whose address was unknown, and Vickie Kuykendall, 39, of Monrovia were arrested at the Lambert Road off-ramp of the Orange Freeway in Brea on suspicion of bank robbery, according to Lt. Art Romo of the Orange Police Department.

The two were pursued on the freeway by units from the Placentia and Fullerton police departments. Police said officers found an undetermined amount of cash and a toy gun in the gray Mercedes.

At 4 p.m., a man walked into the Bank of America branch in the 2500 block of North Tustin Street in Orange and presented a note to a teller announcing the robbery. The man said he had a weapon, but did not display it, Romo said.

The man took the money and got into a waiting car, driven by a woman.

Cantella and Kuykendall were being held at the Orange County Jail, where bail has not yet been set, Romo said.
