FAST FACT

Since the conference was split into two divisions in 1988, Moorpark has won the North title four times, including the past two.

OUTLOOK

The Raiders had the second-best defense in the conference last season--first against the run--and they promise to be equally stingy this year. It will take some doing for opponents to get past linebackers Hairston, Webb and Maxie, but if they do, safety Holmon will be there to shut the door. On offense, however, Moorpark has some big adjustments to make. Lost to graduation were All-WSC North Division quarterback Todd Preston and running back Gil Carrillo, the two-time WSC North Division offensive player of the year. “The big question mark is how the quarterbacks are going to perform,” Bittner said. Look for fullback Kirksey to put up big numbers.
