Celebrity Readers Join Audio Book Firm Party : A number of events are planned Saturday at the Agoura Hills firm’s facility.

Storytelling began as an oral tradition--we huddled together and listened. Well, we are listening again--to books on tape. Albert’s AudioBooks will celebrate its first anniversary Saturday with celebrity readers. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with Yareli Arizmendi, star of “Like Water for Chocolate.” At noon, Barney will sign “I Hate Barney Songbooks.” At 6 p.m., Lindsay Crouse, reader of audio books by Nancy Taylor Rosenberg, Robin Cook, Stephen King, Anne Rice and Mary Higgins Clark, will appear. Judy Barns, winning co-writer of the classic “Star Trek” episode, “The Tholian Web,” will moderate a two-day screenwriting conference at the Learning Tree in Chatsworth. Panelists include top writers and producers of past, present and future incarnations of “Star Trek.” The seminar is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and costs $95. And Melissa Forgie, owner of the Bed ‘n’ Babies Inn, will be at the bookstore to describe how to find the best child care in Ventura.

Marvin J. Wolf, whose most recent book, “Family Blood,” received the Los Angeles Press Club’s 1994 Award for Excellence, will speak at the Ventura County Writer’s Club meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ottavio’s, 340 Mobil Ave., Camarillo. Wolf has authored hundreds of magazine articles and nine nonfiction books, and is associate producer of a series pilot based on his forthcoming book, “Perfect Crimes.” He is working on a biography of Native American activist / film actor Russell Means.
