MISSION VIEJO : Fund-Raiser to Aid Library-Building Fund

Share

A second fund-raiser to build a new city library will be held Saturday with a book sale.

Borders Books & Music will contribute 10% of all sales on Saturday toward construction of the city library. The bookstore is at 25222 El Paseo in the Mission Viejo Freeway Center.

The event launches a month of fund raising for the library, during which the Mission Viejo Co. will match all contributions collected through Oct. 17, up to $10,000.

Also during the same period, City Hall will double all money given to the library fund.

“You’ll get more book for your buck,” said Sherri Butterfield, chairwoman of the Mission Viejo Library Foundation. “A small amount of money can turn into a substantial amount. A lot of people like to give when their money is multiplied.”

The first fund-raising drive, held last June, brought in $35,000 from the community, which turned into $135,000 when the Mission Viejo Co. and City Hall made contributions.

Donations can be mailed to the Mission Viejo Library Foundation at P.O. Box 200-373, Mission Viejo, Calif. 92690. For more information, call (714) 586-0439.
