Grant 20, Marshall 15--Grant tailback Di-onte Smith rushed for 352 yards and three touchdowns in 19 carries, but Marshall nearly came from behind to win the nonconference game at Grant.
Marshall trailed early in the fourth quarter, 20-7, but cut the deficit to five on Miguel Iglesias’ two-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion.
After a seven-yard Grant punt with 1:40 left, the Barristers had a first down at the Grant 23. Robert Blanco gained four yards on first down, but Mike Orta fumbled after an 11-yard gain and the Lancers ran out the clock.
Smith’s 79-yard touchdown run in the first quarter helped put Grant out front, 7-0, but Marshall tied it when Herbert Zarco returned the ensuing kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown and Yhan Rios kicked the extra point.
