Iger Named President of Cap Cities: Robert A. Iger, as expected, was named president and chief operating officer of Capital Cities/ABC Inc. at the company’s regularly scheduled board meeting in New York. Iger, 43, who previously had been president of ABC Television Network Group, will now oversee all operating divisions of Capital Cities/ABC, encompassing the network, broadcast and publishing groups. Iger was also elected to Capital Cities/ABC’s board. He continues to report to Thomas S. Murphy, chairman and chief executive. Iger’s promotion makes him the leading inside candidate to succeed Murphy, who is expected to retire within a couple of years. Capital Cities/ABC also named David Westin to succeed Iger as president of ABC Television Network Group, which encompasses ABC’s entertainment, news and sports divisions. Westin most recently was president of production at ABC Television Network Group, where he was responsible for the network’s in-house production activities.
