North : FULLERTON : University to Hold Concert Under Stars
The 11th Annual Concert Under the Stars is Friday at Cal State Fullerton.
More than 1,500 people are expected to attend the free concert. It will feature music by the University Wind Ensemble. Three Cal State Fullerton graduates--Cherie Brown, Barbara Canton and Rachel Sorteberg--will join the Wind Ensemble for a Broadway review and medley of Andrews Sisters songs.
Brown, who recently appeared in “Tamara” in Los Angeles, produces, directs and acts in her own touring company. Canton is a theater performer and Sorteberg works as an actress on television commercials and on the musical stage, university officials said.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on the Performing Arts Lawn but people will be allowed in at 6 p.m. Picnic baskets and blankets are permitted.
University President Milton A. Gordon will kick off the event by honoring campus support groups and naming this year’s Volunteer of the Year.
The concert will conclude with patriotic music and a fireworks display.
