Salkind Loses Round in Court: A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that Alexander Salkind, who produced the “Superman” movies, is subject to the jurisdiction of the California courts. The ruling came in a case brought against Salkind by producers Jane Chaplin, Ilya Salkind and Robert Simmonds, who claim they are owed more than $6 million for loans and services connected with the 1992 movie “Christopher Columbus--The Discovery.” Alexander Salkind claimed that he has not set foot in California since the 1940s, but Judge Ricardo Torres ruled that Salkind has done enough business in the state to require him to respond to litigation. The plaintiffs are represented in the case by Elihu M. Berle, Stephen Chrystie and David Boyle.
