Motorcyclist, 22, Is Killed in Crash
A 22-year-old Huntington Beach man was killed Tuesday when he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding southbound on Placentia Avenue, authorities said.
Terry Compogno fell from his motorcycle near the Placentia Avenue and Swan Drive about 2:30 p.m., and slid into a light pole, suffering massive head injuries.
He was taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Police said he was wearing a helmet.
