Ruptured Water Line Forces Game Relocation
A water line ruptured Thursday under the Huntington Beach High School football field, leaving the field unplayable, and forcing the relocation of tonight’s game between Ocean View and Century.
Maintenance manager John Klungreseter said a “bubble of water” formed under the dirt, eventually creating a large, mushy hole at the 50-yard line.
“It’s rare for the plastic pipes to give way like that; it’s the first time in at least two years,” Klungreseter said. The Ocean View-Century game has been relocated to Westminster High; kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
Principal John Staunton said there did not appear to be any vandalism involved.
