THOUSAND OAKS : Stabbing Victim in Serious Condition
An argument between a Thousand Oaks auto mechanic and two brothers ended with the mechanic stabbed and the brothers under arrest, sheriff’s deputies said Friday.
Edward Kurland, 35, who was stabbed in the side about midnight Thursday, was in serious condition late Friday afternoon in Westlake Medical Center, a spokeswoman said.
Friday morning, deputies arrested Michael Clark, 27, and Scott Clark, 28, on suspicion of attempted murder, Sgt. Bruce Hansen said.
Both Thousand Oaks men were being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Kurland was stabbed on the front porch of his house in the 3200 block of Royal Oaks Drive, Sheriff’s Detective Ernie Montagna said. A woman who identified herself as Kurland’s girlfriend said the mechanic and at least one of the brothers had been working on a car before the argument.
Kurland was initially listed in critical condition, but he improved following abdominal surgery early Friday, according to the hospital.
Steven Hammond, 40, a friend of Kurland’s, said the Clark brothers are former neighbors of the victim.
