NORTHRIDGE : CSUN Receives Grant for Cancer Research

Share

A Cal State Northridge program that researches the spread of cancer has been awarded a $30,000 research grant from a private foundation.

The latest grant, awarded earlier this month from the Joseph Drown Foundation, brings the total to $200,000 given by the organization to the university’s Center for Cancer and Developmental Biology, program head Steven Oppenheimer said.

Researchers will use the funding to examine how cell adhesion works in sea urchins. Scientists say cancer spreads in part because cells lose their ability to adhere to each other.
