PREP EXTRA / SATURDAY FOOTBALL PULLOUT : Orange Lutheran Pounces on Laguna Beach Errors

Share

The mistakes came early and all too often Friday night for Laguna Beach, as visiting Orange Lutheran rolled to a 45-7 nonleague victory at Guyer Field.

Two lost fumbles early in the first quarter put the Artists behind, 14-0, six minutes into the game. Orange Lutheran quarterback Joe Juliano opened the scoring with a 10-yard run. Minutes later, the Lancers recovered a second fumble on the Artists’ 25, to set up Matt Stratton’s eventual one-yard plunge.

Juliano teamed with Dan Young on a 50-yard pass play to put Orange Lutheran in scoring position at the Artists’ 19. Stratton’s 16-yard run set up his second touchdown--from the one for a 21-0 lead.

Stratton rushed for a game-high 146 yards as the Lancers rolled up 360 yards in the first half.

Orange Lutheran’s Carlos Glade returned another loose ball to the Artists’ 30. Three plays later, Orange Lutheran’s Che Holloway ran five yards for a touchdown.

Juliano had a hand in the final 14 points of the first half, running in a score from the 20, and throwing for another. His 17-yard strike to Aaron Kenny came after Orange Lutheran called a timeout with eight seconds left in the half.

Laguna Beach scored in the third quarter on Aaron Chesley 11-yard run. Stratton’s 38-yard field goal closed out Orange Lutheran’s scoring.
