Iran-Contra

The Times on Sept. 11 carried a news item that dealt with former National Security Adviser Robert McFarlane’s account of “who knew what, and when they knew it” regarding the Iran-Contra escapade. Although much of what was reportedlele had been suspected by many people, I find it remarkable that this story has not been followed up with further information in your newspaper or on television or radio.

I “heard” no response from the Messrs. Reagan, Bush or North, as though they found it quite all right to walk around this messy puddle, or did not consider it important enough to deny what was reported.

Had this been reported in a more timely manner, I feel confident that it could have been considered the “smoking gun” that might have contributed to yet another presidential resignation for cause.
