CAMARILLO : Teen-Ager Struck by Sheriff’s Van
A pedestrian using a crosswalk in Camarillo was hit by a Ventura County sheriff’s van transporting inmate workers Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Jon Hollister, 17, was treated and released from St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital for cuts, scraps and bruises on his leg.
Deputies said Hollister was walking in the 2100 block of Ventura Boulevard when he was struck by a Sheriff’s Department Detention Services vehicle driven by technician Terry Okada.
The accident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department, according to Lt. Gary Markley.
“I suspect tentatively that he (the driver) is going to be at fault,” Markley said. “That is certainly the way it appears.”
