Brett Butler, star of the television series “Grace Under Fire,” has been named honorary chairwoman of a luncheon to support Haven Hills, the only shelter in the San Fernando Valley that assists battered women and their children.

“They (Haven Hills) deserve all the help and support they can get,” said Butler, who was chosen to host the event because of her commitment to fighting domestic violence. In the television show, she portrays a single mother of three who escaped an abusive husband.

Haven Hills is based in Canoga Park.

The luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. Cost is $75 per person. For information or to make reservations, call (818) 887-7481.
