GARDEN GROVE : 2 Suspects Held in Theft of Municipal Tools

Share

Two suspected thieves were nabbed late Tuesday when they returned for tools stolen from a municipal storage lot the night before, police said.

Tools worth about $2,000 were taken from city-owned trucks parked at the lot on Newhope Street, then stashed in a large pipe near the property, said Lt. John Woods. After employees discovered the cache, police put the site under surveillance in case the thieves returned.

Woods said police were waiting when Marvin Leroy Walker Jr., 28, of Cypress and Nicholas A. Nolan, 34, of Buena Park collected the tools about 11:30 p.m. Walker was captured immediately and Nolan, who ran away, was caught 30 minutes later hiding behind a nearby business, Woods said. All the tools were recovered.

Both men were booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of vehicle burglary, and possession of stolen property and burglary tools, Woods said. Nolan was also booked on suspicion of prowling, Woods said. Bail for each was set at $10,000.
