Carr’s Sneak Moves Buena Past Ventura
Quarterback Chris Carr’s one-yard sneak late in the fourth quarter capped a 16-play drive and gave Buena High a come-from-behind, 23-19 victory against Ventura in a Channel League opener Friday.
Carr, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound senior, finished with 65 yards in 20 carries.
Buena running back Josh Cross added 69 yards in nine carries and scored on a four-yard run in the third quarter to put Buena (3-1, 1-0 in league play) ahead, 15-12.
Ventura (0-4, 0-1) reclaimed the lead, 19-15, early in the fourth quarter when Aaron Davis scored on a four-yard run.
Ventura quarterback Erik Olson completed four of seven passes for 50 yards and one touchdown. Olson intercepted a Glenn Dudley pass and ran it back 55 yards for a touchdown in the second period.
Dudley completed seven of 16 passes for 103 yards and scored on a nine-yard run in the second quarter.
