The Thing Called Love (Cinemax Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.) has not yet been released theatrically. It is Peter Bogdanovich’s 1993 film with Samantha Mathis, who dreams of Nashville stardom, and is most notable for one of River Phoenix’s last performances. He is impressive as another singer, the kind who keeps his emotions to himself.

Acting on Impulse (Showtime Wednesday at 2:55 a.m.), Sam Irvin’s sleek thriller, stars Linda Fiorentino and C. Thomas Howell.

Praying with Anger (Showtime Thursday at 5:15 a.m.), M. Night Shyamalan’s 1993 debut film, made when he was only 21, is a beautiful, accomplished work about a young man (played by Shyamalan) who reluctantly becomes an exchange student in India, the land of his parents’ birth, and ends up discovering himself.
