Ventura County election officials are reminding residents that next Tuesday is the deadline for registering to vote in the Nov. 8 election.

Residents can pick up registration cards at city halls, libraries, fire stations and post offices, said Bruce Bradley, the county’s chief elections official.

Currently, there are 345,346 registered voters in the county, Bradley said. Of those, 151,821 are Republican and 142,795 are Democrat, with the remaining divided among several other parties.

Voter turnout in the June primary dropped to an all-time low of 33.6%. Based on past gubernatorial elections, voter turnout in next month’s general election is expected to nearly double from the June figures, Bradley said.

Among the local offices up for election are two east county supervisorial posts, county auditor-controller and dozens of school board and city council seats. County voters will also be casting ballots in two congressional primaries and four legislative primaries.
