SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Historic Town Center Designs to Be Shown
City officials this week will unveil five design alternatives for a project envisioned as the centerpiece of downtown redevelopment.
A workshop at 7 p.m. Thursday will be repeated Friday. Both meetings are at City Hall, 32400 Paseo Adelanto.
Residents are invited to attend and comment on the five alternatives by filling out cards that will be available. Questions may also be asked of the city’s planning staff.
The Historic Town Center has long been proposed for a six-acre parcel of city-owned land that straddles El Camino Real, south of Ortega Highway.
A plan for a 125-room hotel and large retail complex was scuttled in the late 1980s after opposition from preservationists.
Since then, city officials have said they wanted residents to take a more active part in the project’s planning.
