Snow to Try Experiment in Winter Ball

First baseman J.T. Snow, who’ll experiment this winter by forgoing switch-hitting and batting only left-handed, leads a group of 30 Angels who will play in winter ball.

Snow, who has hit 20 of his 24 career home runs batting left-handed, will play for Aragua in the Venezuelan League.

Utility player Mark Dalesandro, who also was on the Angels’ 25-man roster at season’s end, will play in the Mexican Winter League. He’ll be joined by pitchers Bill Simas and Shad Williams, outfielder Marquis Riley and utility player Chris Pritchett.

Headed for the Puerto Rican Winter League are three of the Angels’ top pitching prospects: Troy Percival, Erik Bennett, and Mike James.

Pitcher Todd Blyleven, formerly of Cypress College and Villa Park High, is among eight who will be playing in Hawaii. Infielder Tom Redington, formerly of Esperanza High, is among eight headed for Australia.
